Today we worked on writing our introductory paragraphs. It was much easier for the students to write the paragraphs using a graphic organizer which I sent the students via e-mail.

Argumentative body paragraph
Today we worked on our body paragraphs of our argumentative essays. Phew! What I learned was that it was easier to talk about warrants in terms of situations before diving into the writing. For example, we talked about what happens when a detective finds a finger print at a crime scene. SO What?
Warrants-Well, we know that finger prints are unique and it will give the detective a direct link to the perpetrator.

That means....
I have been teaching the students greek and latin roots to help them determine the meaning of unknown words. Many students have been making connections to words and concepts that they have heard in other classes like science.

Goodwill finds
1/2 priced days at the GW are the best! At only a buck a piece...I couldn't resist. With so many snow days, these were a lifesaver.
